We had really high hopes that Barack and Michelle Obama’s would be in attendance for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on May 19th, but it looks like the former First couple won’t be making a trip across the pond for the nuptials.
According to PEOPLE, the soon-to-be newlyweds have plans to keep politics far away from their big day.
“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both U.K. and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding. Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said.
Although the Obamas, Prince Harry, and the actress have built up a rapport over the years, the Royals want to keep their wedding guest list limited to close family and friends.
Outside of those they hold near and dear, the couple has invited over 2,500 members of the public to witness pivotal moments in their ceremonious big day including a carriage procession from Windsor Castle and the bride and groom’s arrival to the wedding venue.
While the Obama’s won’t be attending, we’re sure they will send an epic gift to the newlyweds and will always be a phone call away from dishing out great marriage advice as needed!
