Let’s recap! Here are 17 standout moments from the Carters’ sensational year.
In February, the singer nearly broke the internet–and set an Instagram record for most likes on a photo ever–when she announced that she and JAY-Z were expecting not one baby but two!
While pregnant, queen Bey hit the stage and gave a performance to remember at the Grammys. While she sntached our edges perhaps the most wonderful part of her showcase was watching JAY-Z look at his wife with love and adoration. So perfect!
Not only do the Carters make a great couple but they make good music together too and the this time the husband and wife duo teamed up with DJ Khaled to give us an anthem with the track, “Shining.” With all of this winning, the Mr. and Mrs. prove that even with all their chart topping success their love is still on top!
When it comes to coordinating killer outfits, no one slays together like the Carters. Just before taking their daughter Blue Ivy to see Beauty and the Beast, Yonce, Hov and their eldest child stunted in Gucci outfits and it’s safe to say that we were definitely jealous!
Who doesn’t love a little one on one time with their moms?! Before becoming a big sister, Blue and Bey headed out for a night on the town to see the premiere of the classic Disney fairy tale. We can’t get enough of how cute this is!
Nine years of marriage looks good on Bey and Jay and in April, as the two celebrated their anniversary, the singer gave a present (one of many we’re sure) to her husband with a playlist on Tidal. The wonderfully curated 63 track list titled “IV EVER EVER” dedicated to Mr. Carter featuring some of the most classic love songs of all time like “Anniversary” by Tony! Toni! Toné!, Sade’s “Love is Stronger Than Pride,” Michael Jackson’s song “Butterflies” and Marvin Gaye’s iconic jam, “I Want You,” the four-hour playlist is definitely full of musical gems that represent the couple’s journey through this thing called marriage.
In June, Beyoncé became a mother of three after welcoming twins–a baby boy and girl.
One month after their birth, Beyoncé finally shared her babies with the world. Posting a photo on Instagram, the singer craddled the newborns in her arms and their introduction to the public was just as flawless as they are. In addition to sharing the first look at precious faces, Queen Bey also shared their names, Rumi and Sir Carter. A month later, JAY-Z gave some insight as to why the couple chose the twins moniker. “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” he said. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”
Since welcoming twins Rumi and Sir Carter, the proud parents got back to sneaking in a little quality alone time together on a super sexy sushi date night. The couple stepped out in L.A. with Bey rocking a low-cut dress and JAY looked cozy as the two continued to be crazy in love.
Growing their family by two definitely meant that the Carters needed more space so they casually dropped a cool $90 million on a LA mansion. Located in Bel Air, their new home estate features an eight-bedrooms and 11-bathrooms and also features four pools, a basketball court, a recording studio, a spa, staff quarters and limestone floors. Now that’s a house!
To bring in her 36th birthday, Queen Bey celebrated the big day at Philadelphia’s Made in America where JAY-Z headlined the two day music festival. Toasting his wife, the proud hubby had the crowd serenade his Mrs. with both the original and Stevie Wonder version of the birthday song. What a day to bring in your born day!
In 2002, the singer and rapper began their musical romance and it’s been magical ever since. To mark the anniversary of their first of many duets, ’03 Bonnie & Clyde,’ Bey shared a special Instagam post. “I can’t believe its been 15 years since Bonnie and Clyde You ready? Lets go get em,” she wrote in the caption. Who knew that this would be the start of a wonderful relationship!
Year after year, Bey and Jay kill their couple costume for Halloween and 2017’s look was of no exception. This time, the two celebrated the spooky holiday dressed up as late rap legend The Notorious B.I.G and his protégé-turned rap queen Lil’ Kim. The queen Bey paid homage to the original queen bee and it was definitely iconic. The rapper honored his fellow Brooklyn born MC and his look was on point, right down to the sunglasses and cane. They slay!
When Beyoncé dropped Lemonade in 2016 detailing moments of she and Jay’s marriage, the songs were definitely humbling for the Brooklyn native. In conversation about his own intimate album, the rapper said that seeing his wife record her own music was theraputic but still hard. ” The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself,” he told The New York Times, T Magazine.
The 2018 Grammy nominations dropped in November and the rapper racked up eight nods for 4:44. In his latest collaboration with his wife on “Family Fued” the two are up to take home an award for Best Rap/Sung Performance.
On JAY-Z’s 48th birthday, he and Bey took a walk down memory lane and took a super cute and cozy photo in an elevator to prove they have no problem being petty by poking fun at the now-infamous 2014 incident in which Solange physically assaulted the rapper as she, Hov and Yoncé left the MET Gala. Since that moment, JAY has gone on the record to say that he and the singer have a brother and sister relationship and nothing will ever change that.
