Will Smith has a vast filmography that includes iconic roles that range from comedic to dramatic.
While his most devoted fans often have lengthy debates online about which of Smith’s roles was the best, his wife and star of summer comedy hit Girls Trip, Jada Pinkett Smith, has already made up her mind.
Smith recently revealed which of his on-screen personas she falls in love with every time she watches and her answer may surprise you.
“I like him when he’s in characters like Hitch and also in Hancock,” she revealed on the People and Entertainment Weekly Network (PEN) show Mamarazzi during a live taping. “I also love that sci-fi movie he did, iRobot. I love that character! When he just has a little bit of just like gruff on him.”
The roles, she says, give him an edge that she can’t get enough of, and she believes the public and his fans don’t often get to see.
“I’s funnier,” says Smith. “When he has a little gruff and then he adds his humor to that. The gruff grounds him and then he puts the humor part on it that we love about Will. But it’s something about the gruff, the rugged because I think that people don’t really know rugged Will is. He’s rugged!”
Smith also shared a little insight as to why fans don’t often see the edgier side of Smith. “He doesn’t show that persona a lot in public, you know what I’m saying, because I feel like for him, Will likes to be welcoming,” she said. “He likes to bring happiness and joy to people and that’s lovely but as his wife, I see that rugged aspect of him that’s really awesome, you know what I’m saying. So you get to see that in iRobot and Hancock and I’m like that’s the part that they don’t know about you!”
The couple will celebrate 20 years of marital bliss this year.
