Jill Scott’s prenuptial agreement to estranged husband Michael Dobson was so ironclad, the judge had to honor it.
A Tennessee judge ruled in the Philadelphia native’s favor and denied Dobson’s request for Scott to pay his $6,500 legal fees. The two have been embroiled in divorce proceedings since November 2017.
According to celebrity gossip site Bossip — which obtained court documents related to dispute— the two signed a prenup prior to tying the knot, which barred him from seeking spousal support should the union not work out.
Those documents revealed that the ESSENCE Fest alum paid Dobson $20,000 a week before she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as well as “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.”
The couple wed in November 2016 in a ceremony that took fans by surprise.
