It was so hard to say goodbye to former POTUS and First Lady Barack And Michelle Obama in January when the two left the White House but they were still on our hearts and minds throughout the year. Since their time away from the spotlight, the first couple moved into a multi-million dollar Washington D.C. home, took their eldest daughter, Malia, to Harvard for her freshman year of college and celebrated 25 years of marriage. Whew, what a year they had!

The end of 2017 definitely belonged to Prince Harry and American Suits actress Meghan Markle when the couple announced they were engaged. While we cheered their relationship on throughout the year–including the time the Royal defended his love from racist trolls–everyone, Black Twitter too–was super excited about the news that the two would walk down the aisle in May 2018.

The love and basketball between La La and Carmelo Anthony has gone. After spending 7 years in wedded bliss, the husband and wife are reportedly living separately and headed to divorce court. The couple got married in 2010 and have a 10-year-old son Kiyan who they welcomed in March of 2007. Since news broke that the Power actress and the NBA star were no longer an item, La La had quite the glo up on the ‘Gram and no matter what happens between these two, we hope for the best. 

When it came to winning in love, no one had a better year than the tennis star and the Reddit co-founder. The two welcomed their daughter, tied the knot and their overall love story just made our hearts smile!

This summer, all eyes and ears were on Kevin and Eniko Hart. The couple who tied the knot in August of 2016 announced that they were expecting their first child together in May of 2017 but before they welcomed their bundle of joy, a son Kenzo, they had their ups and downs. In September, the comedian sent the internet into a frenzy when he made an emotional Instagram plea and apology to his wife and children just before news broke that he was being extorted for millions of dollars for a sex tape that was evidence the he cheated on his pregnant Mrs. 

When it comes to building an amazing empire there is one couple that knows all about that–Steph and Ayesha Curry! The couple, who met as teens in church, have always had their eyes on the prize in the pursuit of their passions. Steph is a two team NBA champ with the Golden State Warriors, two time league MVP and four time all-star. Ayesha is a certified culinary queen with a cooking show, cookbook, meal delivery service and soon-to-be cookware line on her resume. Not to mention The Currys family wouldn’t be complete without their two adorable daughters, Riley and Ryan. Now that’s an empire!

Tamar Braxton and her husband Vince Herbert had a bumpy 2017 and ultimately the singer filed for divorce one month before the two were to celebrate their ninth wedding anniversary. Just weeks after announcing she was retiring from music to save her marriage and after releasing her final album, The Bluebird of Happiness, the singer said she couldn’t stay married for “face value.” 

Just days after Christmas 2016, news arrived that Tiny has reportedly filed for divorce from her rapper hubby, T.I. The ATL couple tied the knot in 2010 and welcomed their 7th child, a daughter, Heiress, in March and just when we thought there was no hope for the two to get back together in 2017, they are rumored to be rekindling their romance. The two celebrated birthdays together, acknowledged their wedding anniversary and shared moments of love and happiness throughout the year. Who knows what 2018 will hold for the King of the South and his queen. 

Mary J. Blige may have filed for divorce from her husband, Kendu Isaacs, in 2016 but the drama to end their 12 year union lasted well into this year. After Isaacs demanded that the singer shell out close to $130,000 a month in spousal support, a judge ordered the singer to pay her former manager a “reasonable” $30,000 a month. While Isaacs tried to slander the queen of hip-hop souls character, it looks like the singer had the last laugh by releasing a chart topping album, headlining ESSENCE Fest 2017 and receiving both a Golden Globes and SAG award nomination for her role in the Netflix film, Mudbound. 

When aren’t we talking about Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade?! The two are constantly cute on the ‘Gram and when they aren’t embarking on an amazing European vacation or giving us life with their super dope Halloween costume, they are keeping it real about going to couples’ therapy and supporting each other every step of the way. Plus they gave us that epic slow mo kiss at the Emmys and it was uber cute!

After celebrating one year of wedded bliss, Ciara and Russell Wilson welcomed their daughter, Sienna, in April and while we haven’t seen a photo of the tiny tot we have a feeling she’s awfully cute. Plus, these two spent the whole year being just plan ol’ adorable so who doesn’t love that!

As if Tia Mowry and her husband Cory Hardrict couldn’t be any cuter, the two gave us more reasons to smile this year after appearing on the Black Love Documentary and broke down why their love is indeed everything and announced that they are expecting baby #2 together! 

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane and his lady love Keyshia Ka’oir simply stole our hearts in 2017. The two got engaged and then wed in an oh so icy wedding that had every one talking!

We couldn’t stop talking about the Carters this year. Bey set an Instagram record when she announced that the couple was expecting twins, he set the record straight on an intimate album about his infidelties, they became parents to three and collected another joint Grammy nom. Literally all of this winning!
