Ryan Coogler is still riding the emotional high of co-writing and directing the record-breaking blockbuster hit, Black Panther and he’s looking forward to the future with his wife, Zinzi Evans.
In an interview with The YBF, the 31-year-old filmmaker revealed that he can’t want wait to have daughters with the woman he loves, especially after creating this film in particular.
“I found I want daughters real, real bad,” he told the site after working with the dynamic women in the movie including Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright and our 2018 Black Women In Hollywood honoree, Danai Gurira.
“Like plural. I thought, making Fruitvale (Station), I want kids. But like, on this one, I have to have some daughters.”
After Black Panther’s amazing opening weekend success by becoming the biggest February opening in history and the biggest domestic opening for a Black director, the Oakland native penned a heartfelt letter to fans sharing that their overwhelming support of the movie often moved he and Evans to tears.
The couple wed in May of 2016.
It looks like the women of Wakanda inspired the Black Panther director in a big way. We have a feeling that Coogler is going to make an amazing dad someday.
