While accepting the 2012 BET Award for Video Director of the Year alongside now sister-in-law Beyoncé, Alan couldn’t help but sing Solange’s praises. “To the love of my life, Solange Knowles, [you’re] my inspiration,” he gushed before describing the singer as “a woman who will hold you down.” Heart eyes!
Solange and Alan call great city of New Orleans home so it makes since that their AMAZING 2014 nuptials took place there. Even though the couple is notoriously private, the details of their weding weekend were just as perfect as their love. The couple kicked off their wedding weekend in style with a pre-wedding bash where they showed a short video about how their love story began and played the old film they watched together on their first date, Mahogany. The lovebirds held their ceremony the following day before riding through the streets of NOLA on white bicycles. Ugh, GOALS!
Following the release of her third studio album, A Seat At The Table, Solo thanked Alan for supporting her completion of the project on Instagram. “Thank you Alan Ferguson for traveling 70 states with me, believing in my vision, making it come to life….and never using the word impossible. You are a hell of a director, (and a hell of a hubby),” she wrote. Awww!
“Yesterday, I had the best day of my life and ended it with an abundance of peace, love overflowing through me like never before. Words only understate the feelings I experienced, but I want to thank you for all of your beautiful sentiments. I’m now one, with the one,” Solange wrote to commemorate her wedding day feeling.
Solange has never been afraid to go after what she wants…including Alan! The singer admitted she was the one who pursued him. “In the beginning, I was the one who approached him, so I have always sort of historically been one of those girls that goes after something that I’m into,” she said. “I’m not very old school and like, I’m not gonna wait on you. Wait for you to approach me type of situation.”
