Today marks the second anniversary of our faves — Solange and her hubby Alan Ferguson. The two tied the knot in a New Orleans ceremony that is still providing major Pinterest inspiration.
Even though the couple is notoriously private–photos and details about their relationship are often not seen, read or heard–that’s the thing we love most.
But here’s what we do know about their love story! Trust, it’s all just more reason to dub them the dopest couple of all time.
1. They began dating in 2007.
Solange admits she is the one who pursued Alan to kickstart their relationship.
“In the beginning, I was the one who approached him, so I have always sort of historically been one of those girls that goes after something that I’m into,” she said. “I’m not very old school and like, I’m not gonna wait on you. Wait for you to approach me type of situation.”
2. They do unapologetically cute things together.
Solo and Alan are definitely best friends who inspire each other to be better. Even when they’re just lounging around at home, they are still adorably smitten with one another.
3. They tied the knot on November 16, 2014.
Let this day go down in history as the day Solange snatched our edges with her winter white wedding slay. Seriously, two years later and the trends she started–from the bikes to the wedding day cape and jumpsuit–we still get chills.
4. They reside in New Orleans.
Solo is a Houston native through and through but New Orleans–the host city of ESSENCE Fest–has her heart forever and always.
“I really, really love it there. It is also one of those things you can’t put into words, you can’t really put your finger on what is so magical about it,” she told Vogue.
Because their love for the city runs so deep, it makes sense that their nuptials took place in a venue of cultural significance to the Big Easy. The two tied the knot in the Marigny Opera House, a then-167-year-old space that served as the perfect backdrop to their wedding photos.
5. They love the movie Mahogany.
First date feel good memories for the longtime love birds come courtesy of Diana Ross. Alan and Solange reportedly saw the film “Mahogany” on their first date and before their nuptials, the two screened the movie with their family and friends.
6. They make beautiful music together.
Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock, you know Solange dropped what may arguably be one of the best albums of the year. Part of the magic in her music is credited to her hubby.
Alan is a music director by trade and helped pull off the stunning visuals for her two hit songs, “Don’t Touch My Hair” and “Cranes in the Sky.”
Congrats on another year of wedded bliss Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson!
