It’s been some time since news broke that Tamar Braxton filed for her divorce from her husband Vincent Herbert, but now the singer is speaking out.
In a message posted to Instagram, the 40-year-old addressed the news of her separation and cleared the air about what fans may have to say about her decision to leave Herbert.
“Sometimes we stay ‘married’ for face value or to say ‘we did it’ but the truth is…it couldn’t be more broken &further apart than we are NOW!…even on an anniversary!,” she wrote. “You can say he did this, she did that, I put up with ‘this’ & I’ve suffered & endured ‘this’ for so long..but the TRUTH is that this was your choice 2 stay we get so caught up in WE are ‘winning’ in love that we are LOSING a battle that doesn’t have ANYTHING 2 do with us!,”
Tamar and Herbert met in 2003 after being introduced by her famous sister, Toni. The couple wed in 2008 and welcomed their son, Logan, together in 2013. One month after announcing she was retiring from music to save her marriage — and just one month shy of their ninth wedding anniversary — the Maryland native filed for divorce from the music executive.
“I decided I didn’t want to be married for the sake of saying so. I wanted to have a relationship. Someone to share my/our dreams, our successes, our failures, our past, present & future with…& not finding out shit online…some of us have been living a LIE!,” she said.
Last week, Tamar’s mother Evelyn had stern words for Herbert, asking that he “keep his hands off [her] child” before either one of them got hurt.
It seems that with Tamar’s message, she’s leaving it all out on the table for good.
“None of this is ok..& while I’m not pushing anyone out of the door…I’m just telling you what has pushed me out of mine! That LAST time was the LAST time.”
