Summer is for lovers! Just ask Taraji P. Henson and her fiancé, former NFL star Kelvin Hayden. The couple enjoyed their Sunday Funday on a boat in Chicago, looking cozy and so in love.
Wearing bright printed pants and oversized sunglasses, Taraji got some bae time in with Hayden as they cuddled up with the wind to their backs. “Us on any given Sunday (in the summer in Chicago),” Taraji captioned a series of photos with her fiancé, whom she calls “my baby for life.”
Henson ended her caption with a date that seems to have meaning for them: “4/4/20/.” Could this signify their upcoming wedding date?
The Empire actress was originally aiming for a summer 2019 wedding, but decided to push the date back so that she and her future husband could do things on their own terms. “You know what? It’s [the wedding] a ways off,” Henson told Jimmy Kimmel back in November 2018. “I was pressuring myself because everybody was like, ‘When’s the date? When’s the date?’ And I was like, ‘Wow, when is the date?’ Finally, I was like, ‘You know, I’m in control, we’re in control.’ So, we are going to wait. When we have a date, we will let everyone know. I’ll let the world know!”
Hayden proposed to Henson on Mother’s Day 2018. The actress told Entertainment Tonight how it all went down.
“He takes me where we had our first date, I didn’t put that together. I didn’t put it together until we went into the party room after we ate, and I saw a violinist, ’cause he was trying to say it was his friend’s birthday — which it was, on Friday — ‘Oh, Ronald’s gonna have a little get-together in the back room.’ And I was like, ‘Aw, that’s perfect. We’ll already be there.’”
She continued, “I go back there and I go, ‘Ronald’s not into violins, what’s going on here?’And as I’m putting the dots together, I turn around, he’s on his knee and then the river of tears just started and my lashes ended up on the floor.”
