Friendly exes Antonia “Toya” Wright and Lil Wayne continue to prove that divorce doesn’t always have to equal disaster.
Yesterday the rapper turned 34 and the birthday messages poured in from friends, family and fans on social media, with perhaps the sweetest one of all coming from his ex-wife.
Wright shared an epic throwback photo and a sweet birthday shout out to Weezy, who has remained a constant source of support as she copes with the sudden loss of her two brothers to gun violence. In the photo, a true oldie but goodie, the reality star and her first love rocked matching oversized 90s garb and looked very much young and in love. Aww!
This photo just radiates 90s Black love nostalgia magic, and the message behind it can’t get any sweeter—the marriage may not last, but true love should never die.

High school sweethearts Wright and Wayne’s bond reminds unbreakable. They were married from 2004 to 2006 and share a daughter, Reginae Carter, 17, who they’ve proudly raised and supported together, showing a united front at all times.
In July, Wright faced unthinkable tragedy. Her two brothers were found gunned down in a senseless act of violence in New Orleans and pronounced dead at the scene. When Wayne learned the news, he immediately came to his first wife’s aide, and remained with her as she buried her brothers.
