Blue Ivy was the queen of the auction on Saturday, gleefully outbidding most for art at the 2nd Annual Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles.
The six-year-old sat in between her parents, Jay-Z and Beyonce, as she bid up to $19,000 for an acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier, according to E! News. The moment was captured on video when she tried to continue bidding after Jay-Z stopped her.
“Her mother and father have been talking about how you gather art and that is a big deal for African Americans,” host Star Jones told the crowd. “Listen, you know Ms. Tina told me all of this. Why you think I’m up here talking about it?”
Although she lost the Poitier painting to Tyler Perry, Vanity Fair reports that Blue Ivy placed a winning bid of $10,000 for a “’36 x 36′ art piece made of deconstructed law and medical books California.”
The Carters attended the gala to support the event organized by Tina Knowles and her husband Richard Lawson. Beyonce and Blue Ivy matched in gold ensembles, with the latter rocking a gold headpiece.
Wearable art, indeed!
