Malik Yoba had us reminiscing about Girlfriends last night after Tracee Ellis Ross’ big win at the Golden Globes Sunday night.
Ross took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, Sunday for her role as Rainbow “Bow” Johnson on Black-ish.
She is the first black actress to win this award since Fame‘s Debbie Allen won in 1982.
Many actors of color shared their joy at Ross’ win, but it was the words from her former Girlfriend’s co-star Malik Yoba that has us screaming for more of the show.

Dear Joan,

Congrats on your #GoldenGlobe win.
Love ,
Brock
Ross played Joan Clayton during her eight-season turn on Girlfriends. Yoba played Brock, her seasons-long love interest.
Of course, fans loved the tweet.
Ross made sure to cite what the win meant for her during her acceptance speech: “This is for all the women of color and colorful people whose stories, ideas, and thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important,” said Ross when she took the stage to accept her award. “But I want you to know that I see you. We see you.”
Now about that Girlfriends movie though…
