The simmering feud between rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B escalated to new heights Friday when a physical altercation broke out between their two camps during New York Fashion Week.According to TMZ, an incensed Cardi B threw her shoe at Nicki MInaj –and missed–while they were both at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party. This was after Cardi tried to lunge at the “Queen” rapper and security got in her way. Things then escalated as members of Minaj’s party also got into the melee. Cell phone footage of the incident shows an angry Cardi B, in a red Dolce and Gabbana dress, shouting about people disrespecting her newborn daughter.
Nicki was “cool as a cucumber” during the incident, TMZ reports. And she refused to acknowledge the incident on her Instagram. She instead posted photos of her outfit from the event.
Cardi, on the other hand, took to Instagram to give her side of the story, adding that “all bets are f***in off!!” “I’ve let a lot of s*** slide!” she wrote in an Instagram post captioned “PERIOD.” “I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me …But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f***in off!!” She acknowledges that she has tried to clear the air with Nicki multiple times, but nothing has changed.“I’ve worked hard and come too far to let anybody f*** with my success!!!!” she added. “B**** talk about all that s**** in they raps but in real life are p***y!!”
Nicki has been the undisputed Queen of Rap for nearly a decade. But Cardi B’s rise in the last year has caused many to wonder if Nicki finally has a contender for the throne. The duo has never really seen eye to eye, especially after Nicki said she felt Cardi B was ungrateful.“The only thing that Cardi really, really, really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’,” Nicki explained of her collaboration on the song with Cardi and Migos. “I remember when I first came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying, ‘Thank you.’ The first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’ came out, it really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry. And the only thing she kept saying was, ‘Oh, I didn’t hear that, I didn’t hear her verse.’ I was like…’What?’”The pair has traded jabs at each other over the past year, but Minaj said in an interview last month that they had ended their beef at this year’s Met Gala. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t always ready for anything. “If a person keeps on offending you, you might have to address it at some point,” she warned. “If that time comes, I’m prepared.”
