Cardi B continues to use her fame to bring more attention to the current political landscape. Most recently, she’s turned her attention to the democratic presidential hopefuls ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
The 26-year-old rapper shared a video of herself interviewing democratic candidate and U.S. Senator, Bernie Sanders, where the pair discussed wages and jobs in America.
Prior to the sit down, she took to social media to ask her fans for input on what to ask Sanders.
“What are we gonna do about wages in America?” she asks him in a video clip of their conversation shared on her Instagram page. Providing additional context for the question, the wife and mother of one used her own past struggles to keep her head above water as an example.
Sanders explained that many Americans are “earning what I consider to be starvation wages.”
“How do you pay for rent?” he asked, echoing Cardi’s concerns. “How do you pay for food? How do you pay for transportation?”
Cardi has pushed her fans to learn more about their candidates in recent months. “Together, let’s build a movement of young people to transform this country,” she wrote in a caption accompanying the post of her conversation with Sanders. “LET’S LEARN OUR CANDIDATES!”
