Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has a long list of crowning achievements and now the Nigerian author and famed feminist is a mom too!
During an interview with London’s Financial Times, Achide casually let slip that she had had a baby.
“This is just very sugary, very sweet. I would probably have a glass of wine, but I’m breastfeeding, I’m happy to announce,” she said.

Adichie and her husband Ivara Esege welcomed a little girl but she remains very tight-lipped on her daughter’s name and date of birth during the interview.
“This is the first time I’m saying it publicly. I have a lovely little girl so I feel like I haven’t slept … but it’s also just really lovely and strange.”
The We Should All Be Feminists writer also noted during the interview that she kept the news of her expectant bundle of joy from not only the public but from those close to her too.
“I have some friends who probably don’t know I was pregnant or that I had a baby. I just feel like we live in an age when women are supposed to perform pregnancy. We don’t expect fathers to perform fatherhood,” she explains.
Many congratulations to you Ms. Adichie!
