It’s been nearly three years since Kelly Rowland lost her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, and the singer is still having a hard time coping with the devastating loss.
In a recent episode of The Voice Australia on which the former Destiny’s Child singer is a coach, she reveals that in the time since her mother’s death, she’s “forgotten the sound of her voice.”
“I’ve grieved now for three years, the loss of my mom,” the 37-year-old admitted. “I think it’s the greatest loss of my life.”

Rowland was working with a contestant who also lost a parent and admitted that as time passed, she simply forgot what her father sounded like. The moment prompted Rowland to break down into tears and reflect on her own loss.
“I’m sorry I’m crying, you just said something so profound. I miss my mom’s voice…it was a good one.”
In December 2014, Rowland Garrison passed away the age of 66 just days before her birthday after going into cardiac arrest.
Three weeks prior, the singer welcomed her first child, Titan Jewel, with husband Tim Weatherspoon.
