Underground has found it’s Frederick Douglass — and it didn’t have to look too far to do it.
The WGN America series has announced that singer-songwriter John Legend, who currently serves as an executive producer on the show, will be taking on the role of the well-known abolitionist and author.

Douglass won’t be the only historical figure to make an appearance on the Underground Railroad thriller in its second season. Guest star Aisha Hinds (Under the Dome) will be stepping into the role of Harriet Tubman, while Sadie Stratton will portray Patty Cannon, a notorious slave trader.
Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes.
Underground is currently in production, with the second season set to premiere on WGN America in early 2017.
