It can be tough out here for child stars. Hollywood can be ruthless and it can be hard for kids to grow up in the spotlight. Some struggle to maintain their fame and others bow out.
The most common stories about child stars, unfortunately, have often been ones about kids who spiraled out of control. We all know the Orlando Browns and Marcus T. Paulks of the world, but there are many kids who go on to have perfectly normal lives, dabbling in acting or pursuing other things. From Kyla Pratt to Fresh Prince‘s little Nicky, here are 11 child stars with pretty normal lives.
The One on One and Proud Family star has never made the news for any sort of tabloid issue and that’s because Pratt doesn’t want to disappoint her mom. Recently, Pratt revealed, “I’ve always wanted to make my mother proud. I grew up watching my mom do stage plays. I never wanted to disappoint my mom because my mother is one of my best friends. I’m not perfect, I’ve done crazy stuff but I’ve never been an attention seeker.”
Ross Bagley was everyone’s favorite kid as Nicky on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Buckwheat in 1994’s Little Rascals. Bagley’s last role was in 2015’s Dead Ringer. He attended California State University at Northridge in 2005 and currently works in real estate in Los Angeles.
Since her days on Punky Brewster and Family Matters, Johnson has gone on to pen four books, co-host a radio sports show, and write and edit for numerous publications. She’s also involved in a number of children’s charities. Johnson keeps her private life incredibly private, refusing to release the name or photo of her daughter, who she wishes to keep out of the spotlight.
Who could forget Winbush as Vanessa on The Bernie Mac Show? Everyone’s favorite moody teen is all grown up and living her best life. She appeared in ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager and has a few projects slated for this year. Judging from her Instagram, in her free time she chills with friends, travels, and spends time with family.
