The internet was not happy with singer Ciara over the weekend.
After she co-signed and re-posted a popular video sermon by Pastor John Gray during which he encourages single women who are aspiring to be wives to first stop acting like girlfriends, many fans disagreed and expressed their disappointment all throughout their social feeds. Ciara quickly became a trending topic.
On Sunday, almost 24 hours after posting her “#LevelUp” comments online, Ciara took to Instagram to clarify what she meant by saying “#levelup”.
“I was once that girl wanted to be loved a certain way but was making the wrong choices,” she began. “I found myself at my lowest moment. I was a single mom sitting at home, and I then realized that the perfect love I was looking for was how God loves me, how He wants me to be loved, and He was calling me to be as a mom and a woman. Tats when I realized married or not married…I needed to love myself. #LevelUp”
Ciara was once engaged to rapper Future, with whom she welcomed a son, Future Zahir, 3, in 2014.
After calling off her engagement, the 32-year-old began dating Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in 2015. The couple wed in July 2016 and welcomed their daughter, Sienna Princess, in April 2017.
