• After Barneys’ racial profiling fiasco hit the internet this week, there’s a new petition circulating asking rapper Jay Z to end his creative partnership with the retail giant. In the Change.org petition, Derick Bowers says by pulling out, Jay Z will send a “clear message to all corporations that are likeminded, that this behavior cannot be tolerated any longer.” During the course of the week, two African-Americans have come forward detailing their personal story of racial profiling. Thus far, the petition has received 1,644 signatures. [Change.org]
• Toni Braxton and Babyface’s new album Love, Marriage & Divorce has been pushed back. The original release date, November 25th, has been changed to February 4th. In an announcement from the label, the album will be available “just in time for Valentine’s Day.” According to That Grape Juice, the new release date will coincide with the season finale of Braxton Family Values. • Could Kanye West and Kim Kardashian be signing a prenup before their big wedding? Some sources say although they’re reluctant, they will indeed draw up a contract to keep their assets separate. TMZ reports the couple will have a joint account for living expenses and the like. Today, Kardashian is worth a reported $40 million and West’s estimated net worth is $90 million. [TMZ]
• Mariah Carey says she downplayed the seriousness of her shoulder injury. The Butterfly told AJ Calloway, “I dislocated my shoulder, my ribs. There was nerve damage. It was very serious and I downplayed the seriousness of the situation.” Carey’s planning to release the lead single, “The Art of Letting Go,” from her upcoming album, on November 11th. [Extra]
