• Sales figures are in! As of Friday, Jay Z’s Barneys collaboration line earned at least $1 million in sales. The rapper caught a lot flack for continuing the collaboration after the store’s racial profiling fiasco in the fall. As promised, 100% of the sales from the collection will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation as well as 10% of sales from the launch day. [Global Grind]
• So, what was the top selling album of 2013? The Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience sold a whopping 2.43 million copies. Despite the large figure, it’s the lowest top-selling album in SoundScan’s history. Other high performing albums of the year include Drake’s Nothing Was the Same (1.34 million), Beyoncé’s self-titled album (1.3 million) and Jay Z’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail (1.1 million). • Kenya Moore under went surgery to remove fibroid tumors on Friday. The reality star allegedly went under the knife to ensure a safe and successful pregnancy later this year. She plans to begin In Vitro treatments soon. [TMZ]
• Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney has accepted Melissa Harris-Perry’s apology for making distasteful comments about Romney’s black grandchild. Harris-Perry joked that “One of these things is not like the other” when MSNBC flashed an image of Romney’s grandchildren. “I think her apology was clearly heartfelt, and we accept it,” said Romney in a statement.
