Kristoff St. John died of heart disease, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner. His death was ruled an accident.
The actor, best known for his portrayal of Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless over the course of almost thirty years, passed away in his home on February 3. He was 52.
St. John had checked himself into the hospital for depression and had been released just days before his death.
But the coroner’s office has now confirmed that he died of heart disease, adding that St. John’s significant conditions included “myocardial bridging of the left anterior descending coronary artery,” CNN reports. Alcohol was also ruled as a contributing factor.
St. John’s life was honored earlier this month at the Calvary Community Church in Westlake, California with friends and family in attendance.
