Daniel Ceasar shouldn’t drink and hop on Instagram!
The “Best Part” singer is currently under fire for his drunken comments about Black folk after he came to the defense of media personality YesJulz, who is white. In his rant, Caesar called Black people “disrespectful,“ ”rude,“ and “mean to white people.”
“Why are we being so meant to Julz?” he asked in a live video Tuesday, in which he also admitted to being “f***ing drunk.”
“Why are we being so mean to white people right now? It’s a serious question,” he continued. “Why is that we’re allowed to be disrespectful and rude to everybody else, and when anybody returns that energy to us.”
He added: “I don’t want to be treated like I can’t take a joke!”
Caesar put himself in the line of fire for Julz, who has been known to make racially insensitive comments in the past. Recently she was slammed for seemingly dissing Scottie Beam and Karen Civil, two Black women who are key players in the hip-hop scene.
And it was the backlash towards Julz’s comments that seemed to inspire Caesar to speak his truth.
“White people have been mean to us in the past, yeah, but what are you going to do about it?” Caesar asked at one point. “Tell me what you’re going to do about that? There’s no answer, other than creating and understanding and keeping it moving. You have to bridge that gap.”
He ended his rant by asking Black people if “we[‘re] winning right now in the culture?”
“Are we on top of society? We’re not. You can’t win the game by choosing to not accept the winning team’s strategy,” he said. “You have to acknowledge the strategy and build a strategy on top of that.”
Unsurprisingly, many took the singer to task for his comments…and have been dragging him on Twitter ever since.
You know how racists be like “I’m not racist. I have a black friend.”
Daniel Caesar is that friend.

White people: enslavement, colonization, Jim Crow segregation, apartheid, lynchings, mass incarceration, housing discrimination, education discrimination, white nationalist terrorism

Table full of boys knowing he was drunk and not one of them snatched his phone and ended this monstrosity. You need new friends, @DanielCaesar. This is on top of all the ignorant things you said. https://t.co/fqPYSYCUSl
As for Caesar, it doesn’t seem like he will backtrack on his comments anytime soon. In the rant, he also said that he will not apologize for what he said.
