Actress Danielle Brooks can add a new title to her resume as a designer! On Instagram today, the Orange Is the New Black star announced that she’s collaborating with Universal Standard to design their new Tria Collection.
On her first collaboration with a fashion brand, Brooks made the following statement: “Universal Standard is a brand that should go in a category by itself, because they truly are one of a kind. What makes them unique is that they are pushing the 67% to be a part of the whole. Because of that, I am grateful to be partnering with Universal Standard, making classic, timeless pieces that every woman wants and should own.”
This size-inclusive collection is a natural fit for Brooks who is not only plus size herself, but also an advocate for plus size women. It’s also a win for curvy girls who often complain about the lack of stylish options available in larger sizes.
Universal Standard, which is a direct-to-consumer brand for women size 10-28, will release the three-piece collection designed by Brooks in November.
The collection will consist of the off-the-shoulder sweater dress modeled by Brooks, a poplin shirt dress and overalls, and will all retail for under $200 on universalstandard.net.
