For most, Labor Day weekend means three long, luxurious days to soak in those last moments of summer, sip on some rosé at a backyard barbecue, and bust out your finest white linens for their last hurrah until Memorial Day. But for others, the national holiday is best spent shimmying through the New York streets at the West Indian Day Carnival parade decked out in head to toe feathers and rhinestones, as Danielle Brooks so perfectly illustrated in her latest Instagram post.
In a series of shots she posted to her account on Monday, Danielle showed off a costume for the big day that could put all those Victoria’s Secret Angel runway getups to shame. For those who have never been lucky enough to witness the fantastic spectacle that is West Indian Day, the festivities are known for their over the top ensembles complete with huge, technicolor feather headdresses and elaborately beaded and rhinestoned bikinis and bodysuits. And the Orange is the New Black actress’s costume certainly did not disappoint.

Danielle’s look, designed by Carnival costume maker extraordinaire StronJeh, consisted of a green and yellow plumed shoulder piece, a cowrie-shell encrusted headpiece and bra, neon green high-rise briefs, beaded leg embellishments, all finished off with a fresh pair of metallic gold Nikes. In other words, the perfect ensemble for twerking the day away with Miss Jamaica.
Since Danielle has already taken her turn on the catwalk in the past as a muse for Christian Siriano, this outfit has us wondering how much longer until we get this girl an official pair of VS wings of her very own?
