Rihanna dropped the visuals for her latest radio hit “B***h Better Have My Money” last week, and it’s taking the Internet by storm. Just like the song’s explicit lyrics, the seven-minute featurette is not without controversy.
During a interview on ESSENCE Live, preacher and Hollywood producer Devon Franklin weighed in on the discussion, saying it was a little too raunchy and gory for his taste. “Every artist can do what they want but we just have to ask the question, ‘What’s the impact?’” he said.
He went on the praise the video’s artistic expression. “I thought it was beautifully directed, the cinematography was great and I thought the shots were excellent. It’s just not my taste personally,” he added. “When I saw the video, I loved it artistically. I am a filmmaker myself, I produce films so I respected the artistic ambition.”
