Among the many roles late comedic actor Robin Williams, who died in 2014, is best known for is that of Alan Parrish in 1995’s Jumanji. Dwayne Johnson is stepping in to revive that memorable role in the classiest of ways possible.
After a meeting with director Jake Kasdan, and producer Matt Tolmach pertaining to the much-anticipated Jumanji reboot, Johnson shared a photo of himself holding an open copy of the Chris Van Allsburg book that inspired the original film.

In the caption to the photo, Johnson promises to honor Robin Williams in the retelling of the Jumanji story.
He writes, “An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of ‘Alan Parrish’ will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way.”
Johnson also discloses that the upcoming remake will star five main roles – there were only three main roles in the original film – and the casting will be announced later this week.
The Jumanji reboot is expected to hit theaters July 28, 2017.
