John Legend is still basking in the light of becoming EGOT status.
The multi-talented musician became the first Black man to reach that hallowed entertainment status last week when he won his first Creative Arts Emmy for producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.
“It’s hard to beat playing Jesus,” he told Variety at an Emmy party last weekend. “I don’t know if it can get any better.”
“At the end of Jesus Christ Superstar we were kind of glowing,” he continued. “We were really proud of what we did, and when you accomplish it as a big group like we were, with the producers, the cast, the crew, everybody, it feels extra special. And for that to be the final thing I needed for the EGOT is even better.”
Currently, Legend has won one Emmy, ten Grammys, one Oscar, and one Tony Award.
He still has a chance to win another Emmy Award on Monday night at the Primetime Emmys for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for his work on Jesus Christ Superstar.
