It’s been two years since SZA released her last project, Z, and fans have been dying for news of a new release ever since.
But fret no more. The Top Dawg Entertainment signee said her new music is coming soon.
“I just got a date last week, finally,” she told ESSENCE, following her killer set at Budweiser’s Made in America concert over Labor day weekend in Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway. “[It’ll drop] near my birthday.”
While she doesn’t reveal whether listeners will get another cameo from her labelmates Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, or even new collaborations with Ab-soul, Jay Rock or ScHoolboy Q, she promises that fans will be satisfied after each listen.
“It should be a good time.”

The singer says that the music she plans to deliver will be a reflection of where she is in her life.
“Loving yourself is hard because nobody reps you like you [do], sometimes it feels like novelty and then it’s like to have pride in yourself without it feeling like novelty is weird and that’s a different kind of empowerment,” she says before adding, “a real kind of empowerment. I love myself. It’s very interesting. Being a black woman is weird [but] I love it.”
Fans should anxiously anticipate something epic will drop close to SZA’s November 8th birthday, when she turns 26. She might just give us the present we’ve all been waiting for.
