Jason Newsome, 32, should look very familiar. He has made quite a few steamy (and unforgettable!) appearances on your screen. You’ll recognize him as the heartthrob from both Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” video and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.” Most recently, he won over supermodel Toccara and arose victorious on her 2011 reality show The Ultimate Merger. You know you’ve been wondering what this hunk has been up to. Click to find out!
We may have all watched Toccara ride off into the sunset with Newsome back in 2011, but he assures us he’s once again a single man. As for looking for love, he says he is focused on his career. But, rest assured, he’s still open to the possibilities. “If it happens, it happens.”
Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, this hunk of smooth chocolate is oh so easy on the eyes.
“The exposure from the show was crazy,” admits Newsome, who was born and raised in small town Mississippi. “Back home, I’m the little hometown celeb, and all of that. It’s actually kind of nice. Humbling.”
Newsome is the youngest of three, and in his hometown of Columbia, Mississippi, he grew up an all-star athlete dominating basketball, football and track and field.
Before he began his journey to Hollywood, Newsome traveled the world serving his country with the U.S. Army. He was once stationed with the National Guard at Walter Reed in Washington, D.C., and as a member of the Special Forces, he had unforgettable worldwide experiences. Don’t you just love a man who’s worldly? We sure do!
“I embody all of the qualities of a southern gentleman,” says Newsome. “Things like opening the door and making sure that the house is taken care of. That’s what I do.”
Not just a pretty face, Newsome has taken interest in the other side of the entertainment business, too. Having studied business management and marketing, “Whatever I’m doing, I’m always looking at the business side,” he says. “How do I market it? How can I make it grow?”
“Producing is helping me to learn and perfect my craft as an actor even more,” says Newsome, who has chosen to step behind the cameras for his most recent business endeavors. “I have a few things in the works, but right now my focus is on creating new content for Digi Mogul Studios. You’re gonna hear the name a lot more!”
Newsome was discovered while walking the streets of NYC when a casting agent stopped him and asked if he’d be willing to take a picture. (Can you see why?) It was no hoax, and before he could say “wow,” he was the official face of Duke Men hair care products.
Videos for hits “Super Bass” and “Rude Boy” may be Newsome’s most notable, but he’s starred in a whopping total of nine thus far in his blooming career. You may remember seeing his pretty face (and all those muscles) in videos for Usher’s “Lil Freak” and Toni Braxton’s “Hands Tied,” too.
It may look like Newsome lives in the gym, but he swears he spends way more time outside because that’s where he likes it best. “I go hiking like three times a week,” he tells us. “I do a little rock climbing. I’m adventurous!” If you think about it, that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. In the military Special Forces he says jumping out of planes was an everyday occurrence and really “no big deal.” Wow!
Newsome says the most adventurous thing he has ever done is go bungy jumping in Hungary. Yup, ladies, it looks like you’ve got to check your fear at the door if you want to hang with him. Are you ready for some action?
“My dream girl is adventurous, a people person, family-oriented and God-fearing,” says Newsome.
Newsome tries his hand at poetry in his spare time. “I’m working on a poetry book, and sometimes I post poems on Facebook,” he tells us. Ladies, doesn’t looking at this fine brother make you want to write a romantic rhyme or two?
When he’s not jumping out planes, creating new show pilot concepts for Digi Mogul or putting in work at the gym, Newsome likes to head to the beach, sit on the rocks and just look out into the ocean. “I go out there and just sit back, relax and think as I chill with the elements,” he says.
