Nothing can stand between a mother and her child. Gabrielle Union proves this and so much more in the action thriller, Breaking In, which hits theatres today.
Union plays Shaun, a kickass mom who will stop at nothing to save her two children from the bad guys who have locked her out of the home. She uses the super powers that all mothers possess: love, intuition, smarts, strength and even an old fashioned butt-kicking.
The Being Mary Jane star loved that her character was as strong and heroic as the women in her everyday life-women like her mother. “I was raised by one of the strongest, most intelligent resourceful woman I’ve ever come across,” Union told ESSENCE. “She’s a fierce advocate for her kids, and a fierce protector.” Being a mother is indeed a superpower. The ability to save yourself and provide your children with the tools to do the same is what makes every mom a superhero. We might not all get a cape, but not every superhero does. Check out what Gabrielle had to say about her role and why she thinks mothers are real life heroes.
