In Spanish, regina means queen and we agree: Regina Hall is royalty in our hearts.
She’s reigned for over 20 years in Hollywood, from her early breakout roles in The Best Man and Scary Movie 1-4 to scene stealing parts in Girls Trip and Little. But it’s not only on the screen where the Washington, D.C. native shines. She’s not afraid of having a fun, on and off camera. On Instagram, Hall posted a little diddy she penned in celebration of turning 50. “Because laughter keeps you forever young, I wrote a special song for a special Birthday,” she shared.
The nearly minute song captures the spirit of Hall, whose hilarious commentary has furthered confirmed she’s the bestie we all need. “A bitch is old today, I passed half my life’s expectancy/A bitch is old today, but I’ve been told I still got good p….” (head over to her page for the NSFW lyric).
Hall’s songwriting skills is just one of many talents the 2019 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Award honoree is bringing to light. With 21 years in under her belt in Hollywood, she’s hitting her stride as a powerhouse. This year her production company, Rh Negative, has sealed two deals: a first-look production deal with Showtime and a six film slate deal with ViacomCBS’ Entertainment & Youth Group.
As this award-winning actress, host and producer celebrates her 50th turn around the sun, a look back at the times her gorgeous grin shined bright.
Happy birthday Regina!
