Hennessy Carolina celebrated Pride Month with an Instagram post of her kissing her girlfriend Michelle and a powerful message about the definition of bisexuality, acceptance, and the unfair constraints of sexual identity.
“Bisexual means you’re attracted to both genders,” Hennessy wrote. “If a woman like to be in a relationship with a man but like to enjoy her sexual desire with a woman from time to time she can still consider herself to be a BISEXUAL! same goes for men.”
While the statement is certainly well-timed for LGBTQ Pride month, considering her sister Cardi B’s recent feature on Rita Ora’s controversial song, “Girls,” it’s clear she has her back. Ora, Cardi, Bebe Rexha, and Charlie XCX caught backlash for fetishizing lesbian culture and queer baiting with lyrics about one-night stands with women while drunk. But it looks like as if Hennessy doesn’t see a problem with understanding bisexuality through that perspective.
“A bisexual girl expressing that she sometimes likes to kiss and hook up with girls especially when she gets a little loose when she drinks wine, Sounds human and normal to me,” she wrote. “I don’t have a problem with that!! Whether you want to go out, have some drinks and hook up with the same gender for one night or whether you decide to be in a relationship with him/her, it should be no one’s concern or business or even PLACE to tell you how to complete your sexual desire unless you’re a pedophile!”
Fans flooded her comments with rainbow emojis and praise for both defending Cardi and coming out as bisexual. Last year, fans assumed Hennessy was a lesbian after Cardi tweeted “my sister is gay” in response to a nasty comment.
“Love is love,” Hennessy concluded her post. “That being said HAPPY GAY PRIDE MONTH FROM ME AND MY WIFE.”
