Idris Elba has been named People magazine’s 2018 Sexiest Man Alive!
This is the first time the British actor has won the honor — and he seems excited with his new crown.
“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” he told the magazine in their cover story. “Looked in the mirror, I checked
myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
Elba is People Magazine’s 33rd Sexiest Man Alive. His honor comes after he was named ESSENCE magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2013.
On Instagram, Elba used the announcement to also remind people to vote in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
“I’m honoured & thankful. But what’s even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make
a difference!” he wrote in the caption.
Elba’s fiancé, Sabrina Dhowre, was also proud of his accomplishment. She told her followers on Instagram that she
was not surprised by Elba’s new honor.
That’s my hubby!!! Yaaaaasssssss …. thanks [People] but I already knew,” she said.
