Two of our favs will align on the big screen in a new film from mega-producer Will Packer.
According to reports, Issa Rae has signed on to appear in Little, a comedy that also stars Black-ish breakout Marsai Martin. The film is about a woman who is overwhelmed by the responsibilities of adulthood and magically gets to relive the carefree days of her youth.
Martin shared the news on Instagram, captioning a picture of Rae with, “Surprise!”
Fresh off the Boat writer Camilla Blackett is penning the script and Tina Gordon Chism (Peeples, Drumline) is slated to direct.
In addition to Packer, Little is being backed by a group of Hollywood heavyweights, including Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, Emmy winner Regina Hall, and James Lopez. Martin, who’s just 13, will also serve as an executive producer on the film.
Rae’s addition to the cast of Little is yet another foray onto the silver screen for the woman behind one of our favorite TV series. In addition to starring alongside Amandla Stenberg in the film adaptation of the popular novel The Hate U Give, the Insecure creator will also appear in Empress of Serenity with SNL’s Bill Hader.
