Ja Rule knows many are still mad at him for his involvement in the failed Fyre Festival — and he is making sure they have a chance to tell it to his face!
The rapper held a concert in New Jersey on Friday night and took a moment during the show to ask his fans to chant “F*** Ja Rule.”
In a video of the incident, Ja Rule can be seen onstage holding his middle finger to the crowd.
“I want y’all to repeat after me. Get it out of your f—king system cause we ain’t gonna do this s—t for the rest of the year!” he says referring to the Fyre Festival. “So get your motherf—king middle fingers up.”
“Let me hear you say ‘F—k you Ja Rule!” he continued. The crowd chanted the phrase right back to him.
The Fyre Festival is back in the public consciousness after Netflix and Hulu both released documentaries in January detailing how Ja Rule’s partner, Billy McFarland, scammed and defrauded hundreds of people in his attempt to pull off the festival.
The luxurious event was meant to be held on the Bahamian island of Exuma over two weekends in April and May 2017. It was promoted on social media by some of the world’s top models and influencers, enticing people to buy ticket packages ranging from $1,200 to over $100,000.
But the event was a disaster that unfolded for all to see on social media.
With McFarland currently serving a six-year sentence after admitting to defrauding investors of $26 million, Ja Rule has been on the receiving end of much of the criticism. He continues to claim that he was also a victim.
“I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hoodwinked, lead astray!!!” he said in a tweet after the documentaries debuted.
