After raking in over $30 million during its opening weekend, Will Packer and Malcolm D. Lee’s R-Rated comedy, Girls Trip, has definitely done it for the culture.
Though the stars of the movie have all shown their appreciation for the outpour of support from the community towards the film, it was Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent response that will probably tug at your heartstrings the most. Taking to her Instagram account to give a big shout out to everyone who went to see the film, the pretty in pink actress was all smiles as she relayed her gratitude.
“I wanna give a big shout out and a big thank you to all my Queens this weekend that came out and supported Girls Trip,” she gushed. “When I say my Queens across the nation, I mean my Black Queens, my White Queens, my Latin Queens, my Asian Queens, and it goes on, and on, and on.”
Smiling all the way through the video, Smith went on to say that the numbers alone are not what makes her proud of the movie’s opening weekend. “Just showing how when we clique together, what we can do together. That’swhat I’m most proud of,” she said. “Girls Trip is not just a movie, it’s a movement.”
The actress, who repeatedly thanked everyone again and reiterated that the movie wouldn’t be as big as it is if it weren’t for the support, also gave a special shout out to all the men who went to see the film. “I wanna thank my Kings. My Kings that came out to hold down their Queens. I love y’all for that.”
You can always count on Jada to make you feel all warm inside.
