New York City was the place to be this weekend as global icon Janet Jackson brought her Black Girl Magic to the Big Apple in celebration of her new single and music video.
Titled “Made For Now” and featuring Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee, Ms. Jackson kicked off the weekend in style with the release of the song’s vibrant new visual celebrating all things Black and African culture, Harlem style.
As the camera takes viewers through the neighborhood streets, Janet is seen rocking several breathtaking looks while surrounded by a non-stop dance celebration with dancers off all ages joining her to party in the middle of the street. The video itself, choreographed by veteran dance maven Danielle Polanco, was filmed in Harlem and perfectly captures the summertime essence of the culturally-rich uptown NYC community.

But the fun didn’t stop there.
Following the video’s release, Jackson and Daddy Yankee made their way to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, where they performed the single live for the very first time. Much like the music video, the show-stopping performance was full of nods to African traditions and African culture. Every moment of the live debut was a must-see, but naturally, it was the high-energy dance break that proved a true highlight.
Jackson closed out her NYC takeover with a surprise block party in Harlem on Saturday afternoon, which also coincided with the annual #HarlemWeek celebration. A massive crowd gathered near 135th and St. Nicholas uptown, as Janet took to the stage. Much to the shock of fans and NYC residents, she even took to the subway to the event.
Janet Jackson will return to NYC on September 29, where she’ll be headlining the 2018 Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.
