Jay-Z is helping a new generation of students get their college diploma. The Shawn Carter Foundation has partnered with Toyota to support the annual Black college bus tour.
Founded in 2007, the tour provides high school students the chance to experience historically Black colleges and universities around the country, so they can make educated choices about where to further their education.
The Shawn Carter Foundation Bus Tour kicked off earlier this week with help from Jay-Z’s mother Gloria Carter. The students will stop on campuses in cities such as Washington D.C. and Atlanta.
Students participating are able to connect with college counselors as well as scholars, who have also been through the program themselves.
The program has also offered a variety of college preparatory courses to students at 125 schools across New York and New Jersey.
The Shawn Carter Foundation has historically made education a top priority. They have worked towards their mission of helping people, who might be facing economic hardships, further their education tirelessly. The foundation has awarded scholarships, supported study abroad and cultural exchange efforts.
