Jemele Hill is leaving SportsCenter for ESPN’s The Undefeated.
The news was confirmed Friday morning following a report from The Hollywood Reporter that Hill’s last day with SportsCenter would be Friday, Feb. 2.
The move comes after Hill’s two-week suspension in October for violating the company’s social media guidelines. Prior to that, Hill found herself in hot water after calling Donald Trump a “white supremacist” in September of last year.
Following her comments about Trump, ESPN issued a statement making it clear that Hill’s beliefs were her own, but also violated company policy. “Jemele has a right to her personal opinions, but not to publicly share them on a platform that implies that she was in any way speaking on behalf of ESPN.”
In October, upon announcing her suspension, ESPN stated that all employees have been reminded of the company’s social media policies.
Sports Illustrated reports that Hill requested the change. Her role at The Undefeated has not been confirmed.
