It will be a sort-of full circle moment for Jennifer Hudson as the singer is set to be a judge on the upcoming season of The Voice.
Hudson gained fame as a contestant on American Idol where she was a finalist on the show’s third season in 2004. Since then, she’s gone on to win an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, and two Grammys. She’s also been a winning judge on the UK’s version of The Voice.
On Wednesday she shared on Twitter and Instagram that she’d be a judge on the 13th season of The Voice, alongside Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine.

“In tears thinking of what this means and represents to me and knowing and walking the journey,” she said on Instagram. “Wow, who would of thought after being a contestant, that one day, I would be sitting in one of those chairs from the U.K. To the U.S! Only God !!!! Oh but I made it!”
The same sentiment was felt by executives.
“Jennifer is an extraordinary vocal talent and one of the premier voices of our time,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of NBC’s alternative and reality group as reported by HuffPo. “She embodies the experience, expertise, positivity and sheer talent that ‘The Voice’ stands for.”
We’re looking forward to seeing her next season, and hope she gets a good roster of talent to work with.
