After news broke on November 14 that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19, R&B singer Jeremih, 33, is in critical condition. He is currently in the intensive care unit in a Chicago hospital.
Jeremih’s agent revealed to Variety that he was taken off of a ventilator today. “J was just pulled off the ventilator…He’s still in ICU in critical condition. Please keep him in your prayers,” the spokesperson wrote.
Producer Hitmaka was among the first to share the news of Jeremih’s condition over the weekend. “I need everyone to pray for my brother Jeremih,” he posted on Instagram. “This message is posted with his mothers blessings.”
Other stars, like fellow Chicagoan Chance the Rapper, have asked for prayers on the singer’s behalf as well. “Please if you can take a second to pray for my Jeremih,” Chance’s public message began. “[H]e is like a brother to me and he’s ill right now.”
Jeremih, an ESSENCE Festival alum, is best known for his 2008 debut single “Birthday Sex,” the lead single from his eponymous debut album. The song has since gone multiplatinum. He has released three other full length projects since then—All About You, Late Nights and MihTy.
We are praying for Jeremih’s recovery.
