Tragic loss has a way of bringing people together, but social media remains the great connector.
Jhene Aiko, who sang at Nipsey Hussle’s memorial service last week, was moved to share a touching message to her ex-boyfriend Big Sean over the weekend—and his 10.9 million Instagram followers.
“You are so special to me. To the world,” the singer began in her comment under the rapper’s video post on Instagram, paying tribute to the slain rapper. “While we’re both still on this planet I just want to say…I love you beyond measure.”
The Souled Out singer continued: “Even tho[ugh] I get big mad and you trigger the f-ck out of me. You make me feel, and I appreciate that. Because I thought I was dead inside. My ego has no say when it comes to you.”
“I love you from this life to the next and all the other lives we’ve known each other before,” she wrote.
The “I Don’t Fuck With You” lyricist has yet to publicly respond, but Aiko’s comment did evoke a reaction from fans and supporters of the two recording artists, who were frequent collaborators. The two even released a critically-acclaimed Twenty88 back in 2016.
The pair dated for close to three years before severing ties last year. There seems to be no bad blood between the two, even though they never addressed the split.
Aiko is reportedly working on her third album, which she claims will deal with topics beyond her relationship with Sean.
“My next album is all freestyles where I touch on many subjects and relationships…past, present and future,” she said in another comment on Instagram last month.
