Say hello to the new (and hopefully improved) YE.
The G.O.O.D. Music rapper announced Saturday night before he hit the stage for Saturday Night Live’s season 44 premiere that he’s changing his professional name to YE.
“The being formally known as Kanye West I am YE,” he tweeted.
The Chicago rapper has been called by the nickname for years, and even used it for the title of his June album.
He follows in the footsteps of other historic name changes such as Prince, Diddy and even Snoop Dogg — so this is nothing new for hip hop.
“I believe YE is the most commonly used word in the Bible,” he told Real 92.3’s Big Boy when promoting his music in June. “In the Bible it means ‘you.’
First his “move” back to Chicago, and now this. Let’s see how long this change lasts before YE makes his next declaration.
YE’s new album, Yandi, dropped last night, after his very interesting performance on SNL.
What do you think of the album so far?
