Yesterday, Kanye West was officially charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft over an incident with a paparazzi photographer on July 19th, reports E! Online.
The run-in took place at the Los Angeles International Airport as West was exiting. Photographer Daniel Ramos claims he was hurt in the scuffle. He alleges that West knocked him on the ground in an attempt to take his camera away after snapping photos.
Ramos’ lawyer, Gloria Allred released a statement saying, “We are very gratified to learn today that the L.A. City Attorney has chosen to criminally charge Kanye West with one count of battery and one count of attempted grand theft as a result of his unjustified attack on our client who is a photographer and who was the victim of Mr. West’s attack.”
Ramos also filed a lawsuit claiming assault, battery and negligence. He says he suffered right hip injuries during the scuffle, in addition to emotional distress.
West has yet to comment on the charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 10th.
