Kanye West is a Grammy-winning musician, fashion designer, and entrepreneur and soon…presidential candidate?
West first announced plans to run for president in 2020 in his acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 MTV VMAs, but many believed he was joking. However, it seems that West may have been serious.
The rapper told BBC Radio 1‘s Annie Mac that while he doesn’t have a passion for politics, he does have “a view on humanity, on people, on the truth.” He explained, “If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive, I’m going to try to do it.”
Back in September, West told Vanity Fair that he still has a lot of research to do and some growing up to do as well before throwing in a presidential bid.
“I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do. My dad has two masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH. Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child. When I was a child, I was holding my mom’s hand at Operation PUSH. I think it’s time.”
So what do you think? Yeezus for president?
