While Twitter was arguing about Birkins, Kanye West reminded his wife it’s the thought that counts. The rapper and producer gifted Kim Kardashian West with a “lifelike” 3-D hologram of her late father Robert Kardashian her fortieth birthday.
Kardashian, who defended O.J. Simpson during his 1995 trial, died of cancer in 2003.
Kardashian West shared a clip from the hologram on her Instagram page. “For my birthday, Kanye got me the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad. It is so lifelike and we watched it over and over, filled with lots so tears and emotion. I can’t even describe what this meant to me and my sisters, my brother, my mom and closest friends to experience together. Thank you so much Kanye for this memory that will last a lifetime,” she wrote in the caption.
The hologram was reportedly created using a combination of existing audio and video footage and artificial intelligence. According to TMZ, West spent a large amount of time in his private studio researching the mannerisms and speech patterns of Kardashian to ensure the gift’s accuracy. The two and a half minute clip integrates personal stories and private jokes that his wife shared with him throughout the course of their friendship and marriage.
It also included a reference to her marrying, “the most genius man in the world.”
“You’re 40 and all grown up,” says the image of Kardashian in the clip. “You look beautiful, just like when you were a little girl. I watch over you and your sisters and brother — and the kids — every day.”
“I am so proud of the woman that you’ve become, Kimberly, and all that you’ve accomplished,” it continues. “But most impressive is your commitment to become a lawyer and carry on my legacy. It’s a long and a hard road, but it’s worth it, and I’m with you every step of the way.”
“You are a proud Armenian, and I am a proud Armenian father,” it added.
“Keep doing what you’re doing, Kimberly, you are a beautiful soul. Know that I am very proud of you and I am always with you. I have built a firewall around our family. I love you … Don’t forget to say your prayers,” the hologram concluded, before evaporating into a puff of digital smoke
Kardashian West has been outspoken about the way her partner intimately understands her feelings about the loss of her father. In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey she said, “I can really relate to his mother passing. He can really relate to my father passing. I mean, there’s so many similarities in our life.”
