Kendrick Lamar just made history as the first rapper to ever be awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
On Monday, it was announced that Lamar earned the Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album, DAMN. The organization called the rapper’s album “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”
