The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Sunday morning despite having struggled through complications late in her pregnancy, People reports. The first-time mom, with husband Marc Daly named their newborn Brooklyn Doris Daly.
“Brooklyn because that’s where we met and fell in love, and Doris after my grandmother who passed away last year and who raised me,” Moore told People after enduring an emergency cesarean section.
The baby girl weighs 5 lbs. and 12 oz.
The good news comes after Moore revealed that she was diagnosed with preeclampsia after gaining 17 pounds in one week. She announced later announced that she would have to deliver her first child earlier than expected, though she did not specify when.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, preeclampsia is caused when persistent high blood pressure develops in pregnant women, usually after the 20th week of pregnancy. When untreated, the disorder can be fatal to the mother and child.
The baby was originally due around Thanksgiving.
This is Moore and her husband’s first child together. Moore, 47, confirmed her pregnancy during part one of season 10’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion in April.
Moore married Daly in a romantic Caribbean wedding in St. Lucia in June 2017. Introduced by celebrity chef Roble Ali in June 2016, Moore and Daly, started dating in December of that year.
